VEGA Asset Management is a Pretoria-based investment boutique specialising in bespoke private share portfolios for domestic and international private clients. We are a small, high-performance team that values deep thinking, intellectual rigour, and a genuine passion for markets. We also manage a global equity fund, in which the successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute directly.

Key responsibilities

• Conducting fundamental equity research on JSE-listed and international securities
• Building and maintaining financial models, valuation frameworks, and investment cases
• Monitoring portfolio holdings and preparing performance attribution reports
• Producing investment commentary, client-facing reports, and research summaries
• Supporting macroeconomic research and thematic investment analysis
• Assisting with compliance workflows, regulatory reporting, and operational processes
• Contributing to business development materials and client presentations
• Trading and trade execution, including:
• Implementation of client portfolios
• Execution of local and offshore trades

What we are looking for

• Afrikaans speaking is a requirement
• A relevant degree in Bcom Finance, Investment Management, Economics, or a related field
• 1 to 3 years of experience in equity research, asset management, or a related financial services role (exceptional graduate candidates will be considered)
• Progress toward the CFA and or CFP designation is advantageous
• Solid understanding of financial statement analysis and valuation methodologies
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to translate complex ideas clearly
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple workstreams independently
• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel
